Florian Kalff and the VEWIB-crew rescued in May 2017 a very rotten VW Samba build in August 1951 (so at least the 2nd oldest surviving Samba in the world) and thrown away in 1961. See here the result of the project one year later.
This Bus is an extremely rare VW Type 24S (= VW deluxe aka "Samba"). In the first production year 1951 only 264 Sambas were build and none of these was sold to the public but they were all demonstration cars delivered to VW dealerships, big Grand Hotels, airports etc. This one here was the demo-car of the big VW dealership FLEISCHHAUER in Cologne. How it ended up as a forest find is still unknown.
