My friend Paul Ma and me are on a mission to bag the highest peak of each of the 6 states and 2 territories of Australia. This is the video of our journey to the summit of Mt Meharry, the highest peak in Western Australia. The first clip shows the point where you must turn from The Great Northern Highway onto a dirt road. Mt Meharry is the only mountain of Australia's state 8 that you could drive to the summit of, but you would need a raised axel 4WD and plenty of experience.
We flew in and landed at Port Hedland, then drove roughly 300km south into the desert and hiked the final 6 kilometres on foot. This mountainous region of Western Australia is best known for the Karijini National Park, which has many other 1000 metre mountains.
For more information on climbing the State 8 see my other videos or visit the website www.state8.net which is run by another man on the same mission.
