Narendra Modi government has imposed a fine of Rs 84.48 crore on news agency Press Trust of India (PTI) for allegedly violating terms of land lease. PTI was allotted land under this lease for its Sansad Marg office in Delhi. Officials of the Union housing ministry confirmed this. Earlier PTI has faced harsh comments from the public broadcaster Prasaar Bharti for doing an interview with the Indian ambassador in Beijing, that contradicted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s claim that there had been no Chinese intrusion across the line of actual control on Ladakh.
Now as PTI has received this notice within a month, questions are being raised on the timing of notice.
