“May it be rebuilt and be re-established speedily under Jewish rule in our own days, amen!”
Video footage shows Israeli soldiers printing Tanya books in Jabalia, northern Gaza. The Tanya is a 16th century Jewish philosophy book written by the founder of Chabad Hasidism.
The seventh leader of the Chabad, a conservative Orthodox sect of Judaism, encouraged new printings of the books to be made in locations around the world where Jewish communities may be isolated.
In October, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was given a set of Tanyas printed in Lebanon during the first Lebanon War in 1982.
The Tanya has been printed in nearly 10,000 editions and translated into more than 10 languages. It is considered one of the most printed books in the world.
