This workshop, held in July 2017 at the Ed Roberts Campus in Berkeley, CA, covered the connection between climate change and disability. As the world continues to change, people with disabilities will be affected in dramatic and unique ways. Marsha Saxton and Alex Ghenis from the World Institute on Disability discuss how climate change will affect people with disabilities, the different views of climate change and how it connects to the disability rights movement, and what we can do moving forward. It will take effort and activism, but we can protect the well-being of a very large and important population worldwide.
WID is very grateful to the Office of Health Equity at the California Department of Public Health for their support in this workshop. For more information on climate change and disability, visit WID's "New Earth Disability" page at www.WID.org/NED.
