The redwood forests give us so many precious lessons along with the majestic grace of their oxygen, cooling, water and so much more. One of my favorite lessons is the lesson of connection and strength. The redwood trees are the tallest trees and some of the oldest trees, living many hundreds and even thousands of years, through earthquakes, fires, and so much more. However, their roots are not very deep.
Most of us think for a tree to grow tall its roots must be very deep. The redwood’s are not very deep but they have a very special secret to their strength: it’s that every redwood tree is interlinked and interlocked. They are all connected to every other redwood tree. Their ability to stand tall and strong is not due to their individual roots, but to their interconnection and interdependence with all trees in the forest. This is such an important message, especially for all sisters.
Tragically where women should come together in strength, as one, we seem to mistakenly feel that in order to grow strong and tall, to achieve our goals, to reach a height, we must grow alone. We think, tragically mistakenly, that we must push others out of the way. No! My beloved sisters, let us learn from the Mother Nature. We need each other. Only together, United in oneness, can any of us truly be strong, tall and successful in any meaningful and sustainable way.
