#tbt to my last studio recording… the album “Girl Talk”(released 2001). This cd was intended as my “quiet” good bye from the frenetic world of showbiz. In fact the last song on the album “Papa n’as pas voulu” was the song I started my career with way back in 1936 in my Mother’s vaudeville act. I’m still wondering if people actually got the message?!
Anyway, while choosing material for this album and thinking about the arrangements etc., my producer and I sat down and started exchanging ideas and as always (since I don’t write music) I recorded, on a little home recording device, what I had in mind. I know my arrangers all over the world treasure the tapes I sent them throughout the years with all my ideas and instructions on how I’d actually liked the songs and arrangements to sound… not as much for my guitar playing or singing… but for the commentaries and noises made by my parrots, dogs, assistants, my kids… all of whom could clearly be heard in the background!
So here is one of those recordings (the song did not make the final list for the album)… but this time no parrots, no dogs, no assistants, only one of my kids (the aforementioned producer) me, my guitar… and my laugh, which always gets me into trouble.
