ALASKA coach Alex Compton has a 0-4 record in the PBA Finals, but he is not living in the past and instead is looking forward to winning a championship with the current crop of Aces.

Compton has not won a championship series in his four-year coaching career, his worst loss coming at the hands of San Miguel in the 2015-2016 Philippine Cup where the Aces became the first team in league history to blow a 3-0 lead.

Two more losses came against San Miguel in the 2014-2015 Philippine Cup and the 2015 Governors’ Cup, while the other setback came at the hands of Rain or Shine and Yeng Guiao in the 2016 Commissioner’s Cup.

Compton, however, said the 0-4 record doesn't matter ahead of the best-of-seven series against Magnolia set to start on Wednesday.

“The past is in the past … as competitors, we look forward to what we have to do to try to win now. While it’s great to get lessons from the past, it’s not healthy to live in it. I’m very happy to be living in this current, present time with this team with a great challenge in front of us," he said.

“We will do everything we can to try to win and we will see what happens,” he added. “We want to win anything no matter what. Kahit preseason game, gusto mo nanalo. It’s the same.”

Compton said the hard work he is seeing from the Aces is enough motivation to win a maiden championship.

“I think we have a good group of guys who play really hard. My desire has always been for the guys. I want to see this group be able to rejoice. I want to see them celebrate, at the end of the day, and obtain the goal we are aiming for a long time. I want to see them have that satisfaction. It’s always my desire,” Compton said.
