The Currents and Ideas of the Renaissance in Europe
The focus of this class is to examine the Italian and Northern European visual culture from the 15th century to the sixteenth Century, to study major monuments and artists, such as Mantegna, Leonardo, Michelangelo, Raphael and Titian and also Holbein, Clouet, Cranach, Altdorfer, and Pieter Bruegel. The course will also look at patronage, the dynamics of the city-states/countries in the Italian peninsula and the Low Countries.
