Local blogger Tom extended this 1979 hit from American session singers Monalisa & Terry Young who inexplicably appear on Marcia Hines' 1979 LP 'Ooh Child' performing back up vocals but also featuring lead vocals on this album track which became a Top 40 hit in the middle of '79. The track fared better in Sydney where it made #20 but nationally peaked at #35 but it did spent nearly 3 months selling copies and receiving airplay and the pair performed the song on 'Countdown'. I've posted other tracks from Australia's Queen of Pop Marcia Hines and this, her last long player of that decade and have written in my notes the bizarre contractual arrangements that must have been in place for the import session singers to be given such pride of place both visually and vocally on the local superstar's recording. Marcia's distinct and powerful tones can be heard in back up on this track and the 45 rpm single has that it was lifted from her album. Marcia herself scored a sizable hit with 'Something's Missing In My Life' earlier as well as 'Where did we go wrong'. 'Dance you fool dance' and 'Let the Music Play.' and the LP made the end of year Album chart too. After 6 consecutive chart years of gold and platinum sellers, Marcia was about to experience something of a career lull other than her 1981 hit 'Your love still brings me to my knees' ; the 1980's were a dry decade mostly chart wise. Marcia is a survivor and has continued to record, tour and have a career as the 'nice' judge on Australian Idol for the 7 seasons it ran here. Monalisa Young recorded a solo album in the mid 1980's and continued to work as a session singer as well as a member of other groupings. Terry covered Brenda Russell 's 'So Good So Right' in the mid 80's but I lost track of him! If anybody can update me on him or how he and Monalisa came to be on Marcia's album and single, that would be great. Meantime, enjoy the R&B lovey dovey pop of 'I Wanna Make It With You'. Thanks to Tom for extending the original recording,
