First major steam gala of 2016 fell on the 29th - 31st January at Great Central Railway with two visiting locos which are Southern Locos (31806 & 34053) which turned into an strong Southern theme running with 777 Sir Lamiel plus another 5 locos from the home fleet.

The gala started off with 5 locos on the 29th on the Friday with 34053, 31806, 6990, 46521 & 48624 with the others joining on Saturday 30th & Sunday 31st. The railway put up an brilliant show with 2 main sets, local 3 coach set, mineral trains, classic mixed freight & the travelling post office trains which some really fantastic performance one of which was 6990 on the 18:00 on the Saturday evening!
