THE SO-CALLED BAMBOO CATHEDRAL IS BEING HAILED BY ARCHITECTS AS A WAY TO SHOW OFF THE BUILDING MATERIAL ... SHOWING THE TROPICAL PLANT IS NO LONGER JUST THE STUFF OF SHACKS AND SCAFFOLDING.

SOT: We're really comfortable in our culture and in architecture with straight lines, and bamboo is not a straight line. So that in itself is a huge shift in thinking. How to deal with this curve. This pole here started three floors below us, so three floors below us, it's attached to the earth.
