Manawatawhi (Three Kings) is a protected Biodiverse area Co-Managed by Ngati Kuri Iwi and the Department of Conservation. Special permits, vigorous Quarantine and Health and Safety measures are paramount in all our research activities led by Ngati Kuri and supported by DOC. Manawatawhi ( Three Kings) and surrounded area is not a place for general public access. The footage was undertaken by Auckland Museum who are Ngati Kuri's partners and friends. Together we are trying to understand more about the population of Toroa (Albatross) out on the smaller islands and thier habitant. This will help inform future policy for thier protection and help us to understand climate change and human impacts to them as taonga species. International conservation meetings are being held currently and decisions for future protection. Our future Leaders Trenton Neho and Thomas Hvid of Ngati Kuri decent led the expedition. We are pleased to see our next generation stepping into thier Kaitiaki roles. The final pics at the end are a result of us reminding them to have fun when all your work is done. #NgatiKuri
