What's the smallest bomb you need, to destroy the entire world?
In 1942, nuclear scientists calculated a terrifying probability. Each atomic bomb test had a 1 in 3 million chance of starting a chain reaction that sets the world on fire. Luckily, we are in the parallel universe where that didn't happen.
But now we also have bombs that are much stronger.
Less than 20 years later, in 1961, Soviet Scientists tested the Tsar Bomba. That was already 3 thousand times stronger than Little Boy. The key innovation there was in harnessing nuclear fusion, on top of nuclear fission.
But 1961, was 60 years ago. What's the biggest bomb today?
Well technically most countries have agreed to stop developing nuclear weapons. Some countries don't think it's fair though, and continue to improve their nukes. But today most nuclear scientists work on nuclear energy, which is 820 times safer than coal.
Only a few are helping their military figure out
