Maharashtra Political Crisis: Sanjay Raut, a senior leader of the Shiv Sena and Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray's closest ally, is fighting tooth and nail to keep his party and the Maharashtra government afloat. He is fighting desperately to save the Shiv Sena from splitting into two.
Raut has been constantly defending the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena since Eknath Shinde and his loyalists openly rebelled against the party. Accusing the rebel MLAs of betrayal, Sanjay Raut labeled the party's breakaway MLAs "living corpses" and asserted that their "souls are dead".
Sanjay Raut attributes the uprising by the Sena rebels to the BJP’s "usage of ED & CBI" against opponents. "According to information I have, the majority of the dissident MLAs have gotten ED notices. Through the ED, the BJP is applying pressure on them. The investigating agency is also looking into the other MLAs," he claimed.
