1. Driving in Antigua is not difficulty and you drive on the left side but the pot holes are no joke. be very careful when driving in Antigua
2. Shirley Heights Thursday and Saturday Nights. When it come to things to do in Antigua and Barbuda Shirley Heights is at the top of the list. Not only is the sunset some of the best on the island. but there is delicious food , drinks and live music. this is definitely a must see in Antigua when visiting.
3. Where to rent a Car in Antigua , don't make same mistake we made and rent with dollar use thrifty or the local companies and save yourself some money.
4. The cost of food and groceries is very high in Antigua and Barbuda especially fruit and vegetables. to save money shop and outside markets or fruits vendors on the streets. When dining in most places will charge a service fee just be aware.
5. Unless you are close to st johns finding food can be little bit difficulty especially at night unless you are near major resorts alot of place close at 5pm. plan out your meals prior to leaving the house.
6. Antigua and Barbuda best beaches. in my opinion the best beaches are the secluded beaches that are harder to get to . I really like galley bay, pearns point , half moon bay, dickenson bay, galleon beach with its shipwreck and deep bay beach. while alot of people chose to stay at jolly harbor i didnt find the appeal in staying there and just visited for short period of time.
7. Fruit - best places to get fruits and vegetables are at the public market complex and fig street from small local vendors. we tried to get the antigua black pineapple but it was out of season. prices for fruits are really high here so just be aware.
8. best snorkeling in Antigua - If you are looking to do any kind of snorkeling or diving make sure you wake up early it was windy every afternoon with porr visibility. some of the best places to snorkel are stingray city, galleon bay, deep bay beach , long bay beach and cades reef. One of the best things to do in Antigua and Barbuda is to go snorkeling . we saw lots of turtles , stingray and shipwrecks.
9. If you are looking for some of the best food in antigua head over to perry bay on friday night. they have so much good food cooking there. some of the best places to eat in Antigua are on perry street on friday nights.
10. make sure you head to stingray city. There is no travel guide to antigua and barbuda that does not include snorkeling with stingrays. the cost is 60 us dollars per person. The visibility was excellent. and we got to not only hold stingrays but also feed them. this was once in a lifetime oppurtunity and no trip to Antigua would be complete without it. Make sure you go.
