MILB Low-A is experimenting with the Automated Ball/Strike system or (ABS). It gives teams the opportunity to challenge ball and strike calls. If a pitcher, catcher, or hitter wants to appeal a call they tap their head. The umpire immediately checks the call on the ABS system and the call is upheld or overturned. Teams are given 3 opportunities to appeal. If teams correctly appeal they retain the appeal. I honestly like the system, it’s fast, and ultimately we want the calls to be right.
