For the last 100 years, Black & Veatch had been focused on one key challenge: making it possible for urban infrastructure to apply new technology to the challenges facing cities. Today, this means harnessing the power of connectivity and data processing. The result is that a city’s critical systems — water, power, transport, waste-handling, etc. — are becoming more integrated, more flexible and more sustainable. Black & Veatch is pioneering a new approach focused on ‘Smart Integrated Infrastructure’ (SII) which allows utilities and infrastructure owners to drive new efficiencies in resource consumption as data helps manage energy, water and bandwidth use. This webinar will look at SII — and especially at the methods by which Black & Veatch strengthens the ability of key actors to address the collective needs of various stakeholders in the urban community, including governments, utilities, industrials, universities, retailers, and citizens. Black & Veatch has a global workforce of more than 10,000 working in over 100 offices worldwide, with projects completed in more than 100 countries on six continents.

Rick Azer is Director of Development for Black & Veatch’s Smart Integrated Infrastructure Group. Rick’s role is to identify new trends, establish solution architecture, support ecosystem development, and system integration capability to successfully bring these programs to market. In his role Rick leads new project initiatives for Black & Veatch, including EV Charging infrastructure, battery storage, and development of sensor networks for water and electric utilities. Rick received his Master of Business Administration from Washington University in St. Louis, and a Master’s of Architecture and a Bachelor of Science in Design. He is passionate about the application of communication technology to infrastructure and the advancement of Cleantech initiatives.
Scott Stallard
Vice President, Asset Management Services

Mr. Stallard serves as Vice President in charge of the development and commercialization of Black & Veatch’s Asset360™ analytics platform, which helps manage and optimize increasingly complex, distributed and diverse utility systems – from production, transmission and distribution to end-use devices. Mr. Stallard also leads Asset Management Services within Black & Veatch Energy. In this role, he is responsible for management of the business and solutions associated with a wide range of operational issues including fuels, plant performance, operations and maintenance (O&M), and plant/portfolio optimization.
