Chrissy Teigen and John Legend are facing significant backlash after a TikTok video alleged that the celebrity couple kicked a group of women out of a photo booth at the 2024 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue launch party. The event took place at the Hard Rock Cafe in New York.
The viral video, originally posted by content creator Adelline (@addiesassani) and later deleted, showed her and two friends posing for pictures in the booth. As they took photos, John Legend can be heard off-screen saying, “We’re gonna sneak in if you don’t mind,” before gesturing for the trio to leave.
The clip captures Legend and Teigen stepping into the booth and waiting behind the women as they finished sending the pictures to themselves. At one point, Legend whispers something to Teigen, who appears irritated. Towards the end of the video, one of the women expresses frustration, to which Legend responds, “Hold on, hold on, hold on.”
Despite the video being removed from TikTok, it was reposted on Twitter/X, where it amassed over 19.6 million views and sparked a heated debate. Many criticized Teigen and Legend for allegedly exhibiting entitled behavior.
Conversely, some defended the couple, arguing that the women in the booth did not seem particularly upset at the time. “Those women looked pretty happy to move aside. Complaining later for clout, typical,” one commenter wrote. Another pointed out, “Didn’t he politely ask to sneak in? Also… you could’ve said no if you were so bothered.”
