Despite losing their top 4 players within the first 7 overs, Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya’s partnership changed the game for India. Hats off to Kohli for a masterclass performance! 👏🏽 Congratulations, Team India and Happy Diwali 🪔🧡🇮🇳
Rohit Sharma was lucky with the toss as he made the expected but right decision to bowl first, there was plenty of swing on offer in the start, and Bhuvenashvar Kumar and Arsheep Singh took full advantage. Pakistan was struck with a big blow with Babar and Rizwan both walking back to the pavilion very early. Shan Masood stayed on the crease when others were departing and made a half-century, Iftikhar Ahmed also hit 4 sixes to push Pakistan’s total and at the end of the innings, Pakistan had a decent 159 runs on the board.
Pakistani pacers got an amazing start with the ball, with Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf sending back both the Indian openers. Surya Kumar and Axer Patel get out, but then Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya built up a big partnership between them. After lots of drama bringing us to the edge of our seats, India was successful but all praise for it is due to Virat Kohli who played one of the best innings of his entire career!!
Definitely heartbroken with the loss, but it was a close and exciting match which made it worth it! Even on a bad day, it took everything from a generational player and a controversial no-ball to beat Pakistan. Definitely, proud of my Green team and I’m sure they will perform exceptionally in future matches of this tournament if they apply the learnings from this game as well!
