CaMSIGN was honoured and pleased to welcome Dr. Amit Persad (PGY-6) and Dr. Nicole Pendleton (PGY-2) at the University of Saskatchewan Neurosurgery in co-leading an interactive case-presentation session involving microneurosurgical videos! This was a great opportunity for medical students to virtually “shadow” neurosurgery at the University of Saskatchewan and practice their clinical approach to the following cases: 1. Clipping of an aneurysm involving the middle cerebral artery. 2. Translabyrinthine craniotomy for vestibular schwannoma. 3. Spinal dural arteriovenous fistula. 4. Retrosigmoidal craniotomy for a collision tumour. 5. Microvascular decompression for trigeminal neuralgia.
About Dr. Persad:
Dr. Amit Persad is a PGY-6 Neurosurgery Resident at the University of Saskatchewan. He has an interest in neurosurgical oncology and skull base neurosurgery. He has a wide range of research interests including brain tumor immunology, stroke and normal pressure hydrocephalus. Amit enjoys woodcarving and drawing in his spare time.
About Dr. Pendleton:
Dr. Nicole Pendleton is a PGY-2 Neurosurgery Resident at the University of Saskatchewan. Previous to medical school, she initially trained as a pharmacist and worked as a pharmacist and manager for 4 years. Nicole is mother to two wonderful children and loves hockey, softball, and is also a bit of a yo-yo master. Currently, her active research involves studying intracerebral hemorrhage in mouse models.
