Why was Harkonnens planet black and white? Dune 2 ( 2024)

Warner Bros. was initially scared by the black and white planet in Dune: Part Two, but cinematographer Greig Fraser and director Denis Villeneuve stuck to their guns.
The Giede Prime scene was shot in black and white to highlight the brutalist Harkonnen culture, leaving no way back for changes.
