There are almost 2000 species of bees present across Europe, more than 570 species in Slovenia. The most commonly known are honeybee and bumblebees. Other wild bees are less well known. They are very diverse. They differ in colour, size, lifestyle, nesting site, … Solitary bees are excellent pollinators. At the National Institute of Biology (Slovenia), we are researching the importance of pollinators for agriculture.
