Education is under attack. A recent example is the Florida book ban in Florida. Books that contain elements of critical race theory, social emotional learning or gender related topics are forbidden in classrooms. Henry Giroux sees this (among many other things) as clear evidence that the right is systematically erasing America's true national history. Henry Giroux shines his light on current developments in society and education and it doesn't look good. Critical Pedagogy can be part of the solution. And although Henry paints a grim picture, there is hope in his story as well. Young people all over the globe are protesting for their rights. The right to vote, to work, , to be educated, to be free from religious oppression (Iran being a prime example). Resistance is possible even in the most repressive regimes.
Henry is said to turn 80 next year, but seeing him talking about his mission, his vision and hope for the next generation with that fiery passion in his eyes and voice, makes that very difficult to believe.
