We went out to our public shooting range to compare the difference in sound using a .30 cal suppressor and a .22 cal suppressor on a GSG Firefly .22 pistol and on a Ruger 10-22 rifle.
With the rifle we didn't see too much difference but on the pistol it is very audibly better to use a .22 specific suppressor for the best results.
We used a Silencerco 22Sparrow .22 caliber specific suppressor and a Rebel Silencers SOS Hunter .30 cal Suppressor.
Both were shot with CCI Quiet -22 LR 40 grain ammo, shooting 710 fps, and Remington 22 Golden bullet 40 grain ammo, shooting 1,255 fps.
At the end of the video we put the .30 cal suppressor on my Anderson Arms AM-15 shooting Federal 55 grain FMJ rounds, muzzle velocity is 3,240 fps.
