Whisky.com reviews the Glenallachie Port Wood Finish. Glenallachie Port Wood Finish belongs to the Wood Finish series, in which Glenallachie Malts of different ages mature in different barrel types. The 11-year-old initially matured in American oak barrels for at least nine years and then received his finish in Ruby port wine barrels.
Glenallachie was breathed new life under the direction of Billy Walker, the former Master Distiller of famous distilleries. The distillery has only produced for the blend industry in recent years, the last and only original bottling was in 2005. A total of 4 different bottlings have now been designed for the new core range. Undyed, not chilled and matured in a variety of barrel types.
