“The US, based on lies, enforced the so-called Uyghur Forced Labour Prevention Act, included Chinese entities in the relevant sanctions list and further expanded the scope of suppression of Chinese enterprises. These are in essence undermining the prosperity and stability of Xinjiang, curbing China's development, and damaging the rules of international trade and the order of the market. China is firmly opposed to it. We urge the US to immediately stop smearing China and interfering in China's internal affairs under the guise of human rights. China will continue to take resolute measures to firmly safeguard the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of Chinese enterprises.”

“Huangyan Island (known as Scarborough Shoal in English) is China’s inherent territory. What the Philippines has done is nothing but a farce that entertains itself. China will continue to safeguard territorial sovereignty and maritime rights and interests of Huangyan Island.”

STORYLINE:
China on Wednesday rejected US sanctions against three Chinese companies for alleged use of forced labour of Uyghur minorities in its far western region of Xinjiang.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced Tuesday that they would start restricting imports from Xinjiang Zhongtai Group Co. Ltd., Xinjiang Tianshan Wool Textile Co. Ltd., and Xinjiang Tianmian Foundation Textile Co. from Wednesday.
There are now 27 Chinese companies in the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act (UFLPA) Entity List, which blocks their access to the U.S. market.
In Beijing, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin condemned the U.S. sanctions, saying they were “based on lies” and undermined the prosperity and stability of Xinjiang (and) curbed China's development.
“We urge the U.S. to immediately stop smearing China and interfering in China's internal affairs under the guise of human rights,” said Wang.
Separately, Wang reaffirmed China’s claim over the disputed Scarborough Shoal by calling it by its Chinese name “Huangyan” Island.
The comment came after the Philippines coast guard said it had removed the barrier that China placed in the waters nearby and would launch a covert operation to remove the rope and net barrier held up by small buoys in the mouth of the shoal.
“What the Philippines (has) done is nothing but a farce that entertains itself. China will continue to safeguard territorial sovereignty and maritime rights and interests of Huangyan Island,” Wang said.
China, the Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia, Brunei, and Taiwan have been involved in the long-simmering territorial conflicts in the South China Sea.
