The wait is finally over!

Almost every fast food restaurant, big or small from pizzas to burgers have already one vegan option, some have several. Yet the largest fast food chain in the world don't have a 'proper' vegan burger.....yes it's the Golden Arches - @mcdonaldsuk...UNTIL now!

This was pre launched a few weeks ago at a special launch event....then was trialled in 10 restaurants in Coventry, and now is opened up to 250 restaurants in the UK. There is a list if you Google 'mcplant locations'. It will be nationwide on 1st Jan, nicely tying up with Veganuary.

Right enough of the history lesson, let's get into the review:

First off its 10p more than the Big Mac and Quarter Pounder, why? We have no idea, so I was a bit pissed off at that.

But I was interested in the burger because it is a partnership with @beyondmeateu, and apparently that's why it's taken so long as they were perfecting the patty. I had quite a trek to get up to London Bridge, so hadn't really thought much about the taste.

I have to say, I was actually shocked at just how good the burger is. I really wanted to not like it as I thought their launch event was a bit weird, and they're so late to the party that it had felt like maybe they didn't care, whilst still selling so many meat burgers, but it is seriously seriously good - and I can believe they were perfecting it.

Like it is out of this world good. The bun is so soft, the toppings work so well, and the patty is just so so tender and juicy, and the smoked flavour is so perfect. This I would say if you weren't vegan would 110% trick you into thinking it was beef, which is exactly what this product needs to do.

I can't stress how good I actually found this burger, I'd had a long journey, was in the most busy and noisy restaurant with no chairs squished into a corner next to a Uber eats driver (lol) and it was STILL amazing!!!!

I'm so glad this burger is good, as it is going to be one of the most prominent vegan foods out there. Is there anything more iconic than a McDonalds burger?? So that it is epic is well worth the wait in my opinion.
