As reservoirs dried up during the historic heatwave of 1976, some water companies decided to cut the supply to certain neighbourhoods, forcing residents to fetch water from taps in the street.
In October that year, ITN's John Doyle asked residents of Tavistock in Devon how it felt to finally have their home taps running again.
