TYT reporter Jordan Chariton was interviewing a Trump supporter when a chorus of boos alerted us to the fact that Ted Cruz had defeated Donald Trump in the 2016 Iowa Caucus.
We were struck by the brevity of Trump's concession speech — indeed, when we have filmed him speak to packed gymnasiums, theaters, and arenas, some of his sentences were longer than his entire speech on this night. With polls showing Trump conformably ahead, Trump apparently expected to give a victory speech themed around being a "winner." Stunned by the second place finish, he offered remarks that were over almost as soon as they began.
