It's been a quarter of a century since Dogstar performed in the UK, and seeing the band was a "pinch me, I think I'm dreaming" moment. The band played at the historic New Century Hall in Manchester, a venue with an innovative sprung dance floor (you can almost feel the "bounce" as people move around!), a clever ever-changing LED ceiling, and great accoustics.
Dogstar were formed way back in 1991, which makes me feel very old (I was 23 at the time). The current band members have been in situ since 1995, but they stopped recording and playing major venues early in the 2000s. Following the premiere of Matrix 4, the band decided it was time to release a new album and tour.
Their new album is Somewhere Between the Power Lines and Palm Trees. It's a solid album, very chilled, and easy listening. It's wonderful to see the band back together.
More Dogstar songs from the night will drop soon.
A big shout out to all the lovely people I met during (and after) the show. What a fantastic experience, the atmosphere at this event was brilliant.
