April 16th, 2016. Local families gathered in their homes to spend their weekend time together. At 6:58pm local time, Pedernales, along with other cities and provinces on the central coast of Ecuador, was struck by a 7.8 magnitude earthquake leaving behind a trail of damage that has affected, and will continue to affect, thousands of people. Rosa Ángulo, a mother of four and resident of Pedernales, is one of these people.
