The now abandoned Glenbrook train Tunnel in Sydney Australia opened in 1892 and closed in 1913 due to steep gradient, seepage keeping the rails wet causing slippage and poor ventilation. It used to store mustard gas in WW2 and most recently was a mushroom farm. There has been huge interests to reopen the tunnel as a public space for cyclists and bushwalkers ect. There's a facebook page called 'open Glenbrook Tunnel' to encourage people to support the opening.
