Welcome back to another Renogy solar product review from Freedom in a Can! In this video we've tested the Eclipse 100W Solar Suitcase, and compared it with our previous suitcase panel, the Monocrystalline 100W which we'd had since 2018.
Overall, Renogy's Eclipse panels are more efficient and smaller than their mono-panel cousins. We have tested it for the past month while traveling and camping across the Great Plains. Spoiler Alert: It exceeded our expectations!
In this video we will:
1. Show you how we use our Eclipse Solar Suitcase to keep our road-life powered up, including: assisting Hamlet's trailer battery on a cloudy day, charging our Phoenix 300 Power Station, and charging up the secondary battery in the back of our truck which runs our ICECO 12V fridge.
2. Discuss the overall Eclipse performance, including its size, weight, and how it fits into our storage situation.
3. Describe strategies for security and safety of this panel.
Brief Overview:
For many years we only used a Monocrystalline 100W Solar Suitcase to power our entire camper, and it worked very well, but our energy demands were quite low. When we decided to make an upgrade to our solar system in 2021 to help power our life AND off-grid nomadic business, our solar suitcase panel became a back-up for those times of low solar gain, or when we need to park the camper in the shade and have a panel in the sun. The Eclipse 100W Solar Suitcase has become an essential component to our over all solar strategy!
