Future has become a staple in modern hip-hop over the past decade or so, cementing himself as a pioneering figure in the trap genre with timeless hits such as ‘Mask Off’, ‘Low Life (feat. The Weeknd)’ and ‘Life is Good (feat. Drake)’.
Whether you prefer him in his R&B bag with projects like ‘HNDRXX’ (‘Coming our Strong’, ‘Solo’) or his trap lane (‘DS2’, ‘I NEVER LIKED YOU’, ‘High Off Life’), Future’s staying power is undeniable.
And the ‘F*ck Up Some Commas’ rapper continues to make waves more than 12 years after his initial breakout, with his most recent project ‘WE DON’T TRUST YOU’, with Metro Boomin, going Number 1 (thanks, in part, to the diss-track-tingly good ‘Like that’, featuring Kendrick Lamar, and ‘Cinderella’ feat. Travis Scott).
This latest album proves that Future has almost certainly got better with age and elevated those around him. Think about his work with Young Thug (‘Super Slimey’, ‘Sup Mate’, ‘Relationship’) and Travis Scott (‘Solitaires’, ‘Hold That Heat’ ‘TELEKINESIS’), for example.
Not only that, but he’s played a massive part in paving the way for the next generation, including Gunna (‘Pushing P’, ‘Too Easy’), Playboi Carti (‘Type Sh*t’), Yeat (‘Stand On It’), Lil Uzi Vert (‘Drankin N Smokin’, ‘That’s It’) and Juice WRLD (‘Fine China’, ‘Realer N Realer’).
But, if there’s one blemish on Future’s all-star career it’s his toxicity. Practically every song of his has a quotable line about the women in his life and, as a result, Pluto has long been lambasted by the media for his ‘toxic masculinity’.
Personally, I think it’s obvious that Future is playing up to a character. I mean, in one clip he famously remarks “she belongs to the streets” yet, in another, albeit less well-known clip, he comments “I dream of it” when referring to marriage.
Clearly his ‘toxic king’ persona isn’t something to be taken seriously, yet some short-sighted media outlets don’t see it that way. But today I’m going to change that. Today I’m going to convince the internet that Future is a changed man, with a fake clip of him proclaiming that he ‘respects women now’.
Sure, improving the reputation of the man behind toxic tunes such as ‘Throwaway’, ‘Real Sisters’, ‘My Collection’, ‘Too Comfortable’ and ‘Worst Day’ is going to be tough but, as you should know by now, I’m not one to back away from a challenge.
In the past, I’ve defied the odds to create the now famous Yeat Translator (Twizzy Translate) and overcame the obstacles involved in editing rappers’ Wikipedia Pages. How hard could it be to convince the internet that Future respects women?
Watch as I rally to redeem the un-redeemable and revive the reputation of trap’s toxic tycoon.
Enjoy!
