View from the Woolwich ferry, London on a trip from south to north. One of the link span bridges on the north terminal was out of use for repairs.
The ferry forms a link between London's North Circular Road (A406) and South Circular Road (A205). These roads are also linked via the Blackwall Tunnel which carries most of the traffic. There have been multiple proposals over the years to replace the Woolwich Ferry with a road bridge, but none have come to fruition.
The Woolwich Ferry is free to users and accommodates pedestrians, cycles, motor cycles, cars, vans and heavy lorries.
