The most common misconception about ancient DNA is that we can get dinosaur DNA. In fact, the oldest DNA that we've recovered from bones is somewhere between 1 and 2 million years old. And dinosaurs went extinct more than 65 million years ago. There are no dinosaur bones that maintain DNA. It is not possible to get DNA from mosquitoes preserved in amber.
