Fishing Crystal Lake in the LA mountains on 8.10.24. CDFW just stocked the lake sometime that week. There were some holdover trout as well which were slightly bigger than the average newly planted hatchery trout. This was my first day with the new 7'6" Daiwa Presso rod and the Shimano Vanford 1000. I ended up loosing my towel after the 1st fish so i struggled with that a bit afterwards and had some growing pains for that long of a rod. However, once i figured out the depth of the trout and switched my setup a bit, i was able to get on a good amount of trout this trip. Even had a cameo from a ~10" bass!
Be sure to tune into my next video where i catch a big boy rainbow the very next day.
