Works at the Port of Dover to construct a detached wave wall in the outer harbour are now complete. This new feature provides additional protection to the marina, alleviating swell caused by wave energy potentially reflected at high water during periods of exceptionally severe weather,
Work began last summer when 21 work boat pontoon piles were installed at the entrance to the new marina. This was followed in January by site investigation and UXO clearance using a long reach excavator from the deck of a 100t capacity jack-up barge and magnetometer cone penetration testing.
The approx. 70m wall was then constructed from a total of 59, 1067mm diameter x 27m long tubular steel piles, which were installed by our specialist supply chain partner Red7Marine and were complete by March.
Cathodic protection was then installed by Metec Group supported by Sealane Inshore Diving bringing the works to a successful conclusion this month.
