Home Composting is very easy, trust me. I have been doing it for 2 years now & for the first time, I got a little off the schedule because of my work but now have again got back to manage the compost bins.
Compost is prepared using 3 things-
1. Wet waste (Greens)- which can be waste from your kitchen- peels, leftover food, etc. or green leaves, grass & other green waste from your garden
2. Dry waste (Browns)- which is any dry waste which can be composted, like- dried leaves, dried grass, cardboard, paper, home dust, tissues, etc.
3. Microbes- which help to decompose the compost, for this you can use sour buttermilk- few tbsp or microbes powder or actually nothing & the compost will generate its own microbes with time
Make sure to move & mix the compost atleast once a week for better & faster results.
Problems-
1. Your compost get the smell when there is more of wet waste in the bin so balance that by putting more browns
2. You may get flies outside & around the bin, for that keep a layer of dry waste/ browns at the top of cover the bin with a layer of newspaper before putting the lid
