India Tests K-4 Ballistic Missile from Newly-Inducted Nuclear Submarine INS Arighaat: Reports
India has reportedly tested its nuclear-capable K-4 missile from the newly commissioned INS Arighaat submarine. The test, conducted in the Bay of Bengal near Visakhapatnam on November 27, marks the first missile launch from the 6,000-tonne nuclear-powered submarine, which was commissioned in August 2024. Reports state that the K-4 is a solid-fuelled missile with a strike range of up to 3,500 km and had previously only been tested from submersible pontoons. The test aims to determine if the missile met all required parameters. This launch is set to strengthen India’s nuclear defence posture and boost its underwater strike capabilities.
