Breaking News One - Ryanair charge £110 to change name on flight booking
Ryanair charged a couple more than £100 to change the surname on a flight booking - but buying a whole other seat would be cheaper at just £65.Darren Bliss, 57, was booking a flight for his son's girlfriend from London Stansted to Grenoble, France, when his phone automatically entered his surname instead of Emily Back's.When he discovered the mistake he rang up Ryanair who told him the charge would be £110.His wife Rona, 53, told the Sun: 'After entering 'Bliss' in the first four boxes on the website, his phone automatically entered that into the fifth box too, for Emily's flight, and he didn't notice until this week.'It was a straightforward, genuine mistake that must be pretty easy to correct.I can't imagine it would take more than a couple of minutes.'They have it right there on the computer in front of them, so I don't know where the £110 goes. It's farcical.' A spokesperson for Ryanair said: 'Customers who wish to change the name on their booking can do so upon the payment of the name change fee, £110 online or £160 at the airport.'This fee is charged in order to discourage and prevent unauthorised online travel agents from 'screenscraping' Ryanair's cheapest fares and reselling them on to unwitting consumers at hugely inflated costs.'We offer a 24 hour grace from the time of original booking to correct any minor errors, i.e.spelling of names, incorrect routings/dates.'.
