Hello, friends! I've got a beautiful one today if I do say so myself! This was made from planks of walnut and blue mica pigment from SquidPoxy. The individual wooden pieces were cut 3.5 inches long and stacked vertically. To make the spacing even, I just used some long food skewers that were probably about 0.25 cm in diameter. The resin was allowed to fully cure for 96 hours before I started turning, and once turned, I sanded the whole piece up to 2000 grit and finished it with Waterlox's medium sheen varnish. I still haven't worked with walnut a great deal yet, but it is quickly becoming my favourite species to work with. The grain is just stunning, and I felt that this blue pigment really matched well with the dark wood. I especially love how the roundness of the bowl creates these weaving, curving lines in the final product.
If you'd like to be the proud owner of this piece, we are currently working on an online shop that we are aiming to have open in early-mid February, so check back to the channel often as we will have links posted here regularly!!
