In Syria one week’s food now costs eight times more than before the war. Dramatic price increase have been caused by record-low food production, depreciation of Syrian Pound and reduced government subsidies. 80% of households cannot make end meet and families depend on food aid. Food insecurity is particularly high in Aleppo and Idlib governorates. After more than six years of conflict, agricultural production is at a record-low while poverty levels are record-high. Once comfortable families have become reliant on aid. More help is needed.
