Leaders from the Mount Elgon region clashed today during a forum in Nakuru organised by the national cohesion and integration commission. The leaders were discussing the rising tension in the volatile region. The meeting comes in the wake of reports that the Sabaot land Defence force is regrouping.
The leaders traded accusations over who is to blame for inciting residents. Area MP John Serut was accused of intimidating his political rivals including former MPs Fred Kapondi and Wilberforce Kisiero and Bungoma deputy governor Hillary Chongwony. But serut dismissed the claims saying he is the one who approached the NCIC to organize the reconciliation meeting.
