Ingredients required:
Ash gourd/ petha : 1 kg
Sugar : 3 cups
Water : 1.5 cup
Limestone : 1 tsp
How to make Petha:
1. Peel the ash gourd.Cut into small pieces.
2. Poke with a fork or toothpick.
3. Take enough water in a pan. Add limestone and mix.
4. Soak the ash gourd pieces in the water. Leave it overnight or for 12 hours.
5. 12 hours later, wash the ash gourd properly.
6. Boil the ash gourd pieces for 15-20 minutes.
7. Strain the boiled ash gourd pieces.
8. Combine sugar and water.Add ash gourd pieces.
9. Cook until the sugar syrup thickens for 20-25 minutes.
10. Leave the ash gourd pieces in the sugar syrup for 12 hours.
11. After 12 hours, cook the ash gourd in the sugar syrup for another 15 minutes.
12. Strain the pieces. Leave the strained pieces for 12 to 24 hours.
13. Petha is ready to be served.
