(13 Jul 2020) Two dozen protesters held a small anti-Duda rally in Warsaw on Monday following a tight runoff Presidential election.
Polish President Andrzej Duda, a conservative who ran a campaign with homophobic and anti-Semitic overtones, narrowly won a second five-year term in a bitterly fought runoff election.
He defeated the liberal Warsaw mayor, Rafal Trzaskowski, according to a near-complete count of votes Monday.
The pro-democracy group called Obywatele RP (Citizens of the Republic of Poland) put up a banner in front of the presidential palace that read: "Andrzej Duda is a mocker and perjurer."
Duda received 51.21% of Sunday's vote with 99.97% of the districts reporting, the state electoral commission said. Trzaskowski, got 48.79%.
Final results, expected later Monday, could vary slightly, but Duda's lead appeared unassailable.
