BBC Radio 1 DJ Dev meets Ellie Goulding’s producer Starsmith to discuss how digital audio effects can be used to develop a track from its bare bones to a chart hit.
Starsmith records Dev singing the chorus of ‘Starry Eyed’ and demonstrates different digital audio effects, such as delay, flange and pitch correction. He then goes on to explain how he used these effects on the track itself.
This clip is from the BBC series Dev's Music Technology. Presented by Radio 1's Dev, this series explores practical how-to advice for making music with easy-to-access technology, combined with an exploration of musical and sonic principles and concepts.
