The key mistake that most people make on their PhD application is that they do not customize the application to the program they are applying to. On the application, you need to highlight:
The professors that are in the program you are applying too, and the research that they do. People want to be flattered.
The institution and the current PhD students at the school.
The reason why you think that program is different than others, and why this difference matters to you. If you can’t answer this question, you are not going to make it far in the process.
You also need to keep in close contact with people at that school. Many people would be ok with the application process and if you reached out to them. If you are not a serious candidate, many people are not going to respond to the application, but if you are a serious candidate, people will respond to you.
In case you did not catch it, but the mistake on your PhD Application is to not make it relevant and to take the effort to make the application fit the new school.

David Maslach is a research professor of entrepreneurship, innovation, and business strategy, I discuss topics, such as behavioral science, strategy, innovation, and entrepreneurship, and apply these to my new peer proofreading and editing platform. Topics include the sharing economy, altruism, investing in technology, starting a business, and bounded rationality. My favorite videos pertain to incentives, goal setting, and learning from failure to drive behaviors such as weight loss, stopping telemarketers, creating novel technologies, and creating new movements.
[ Ссылка ]: Peer proofreading and editing platform
A new platform where you can earn credits by editing other people's documents. Use these credits to have your own work edited. If you do a good enough job, you can convert these credits to money.
The goal of the platform is to get people to 'pay it forward' and help other people out by creating incentives for people to give back.
