THESE RADIOS REQUIRE ELECTRET CONDENSER MICS MK393 BC645 KCB4E
Old school 1990s built in the Philippines radio notice how the LED digits look for the numbers 6 and 9 - the newer radios' LED display shows an additional segment on the LED for 6 and 9 digits on the channel display.
These radios use a high impedance electret condenser microphone...a regular dynamic CB microphone will not work well with the Uniden PRO520XL the Uniden PRO510XL and several other radios, including the Midland 1001Z. The modern version of the microphone is the Uniden BC645 CB mic. Also see: Uniden MK393 stock high impedance microphone.
Old school Cobra 19 and other radios with the 5-pin DIN style connector mic wiring also were high impedance 1000ohm condenser mics. Radio Shack RadioShack Realistic CB radios used these types of mics too.
Radios like the Uniden PRO538W actually have a powered microphone (that's right - a factory stock power mic - sort of like a D104 M6B Astatic Road Devil amplified mic). I use a Kalibur Kcb4E KCB4E 4 Pin Cobra & Uniden Electret Replacement Microphone electret microphone 1000 ohm impedance mic mike CB radio mic...these radios are actually little powerhouses.
